Jumbo Award winners from BRT Tiger Reserve
Introducing Wildlife Champion, Sri K.T. Boraiah, Range Forest Officer, Kollegal Wildlife Range, BRT Wildlife Sanctuary. The Kumble Foundation-Jumbo Fund presented the Jumbo Wildlife Award 2010 to Sri K.T. Boraiah who has led by example while on duty at Kollegal Wildlife Range. He has been instrumental in seizing ivory and timber and has booked over 60 cases against smugglers, poachers and encroachers. He has also helped in the arrest of people who were caught poisoning a waterhole frequented by animals inside the jungle.
Sri Bishwajit Mishra, Director, E-Governance, Bangalore receives the ‘Outstanding Civil Servant Award’ from Virender Sehwag. The Kumble Foundation – Jumbo Fund presented the award this to Sri Bishwajit Mishra for his exemplary initiatives in the field of wildlife management during his stint as the DCF of BRT Wildlife Sanctuary. He provided employment opportunities to the local Sholiga community within the Forest Department whose active participation in conservation resulted in a massive reduction of poaching and fire incidents. The research project initiated by him also revealed the presence of highly endangered species in the sanctuary.
Sri C Sadashivam, Forester, Kollegal Range (BRT Wildlife Sanctuary) receiving the ‘Foot Soldier of Karnataka’ award from Hon’ble Forest Minister, Sri CP Yogeeshwara. The Kumble Foundation – Jumbo Fund is pleased to award this to Sri Sadashivam for controlling poaching and smuggling in the Doddabairanakuppe range of Nagarhole Tiger Reserve for 14 years of service. Despite being brutally assaulted by a poacher in 2010, he continues to protect our forests with the same passion and has been instrumental in booking 27 cases so far — with Mahesha Ktdy.

Outstanding Civil Servant Award winner Sri.Biswajit Mishra, Conservator of Forests who was awarded by the Jumbo Foundation gave away the entire cash prize of Rs 1,00,000 to the BRT Tiger Foundation. He lent his support to the noble cause of education of children of the frontline staff.
